Project Objectives
1. Improve access to vocational and market-relevant skills training
for refugees and vulnerable host communities.
2. Strengthen entrepreneurship, business development, and financial
literacy among refugees, youth, and women.
3. Support the creation and growth of refugee-led and community-based
micro and small enterprises.
4. Increase access to sustainable livelihood and income-generating
opportunities that promote economic self-reliance.
5. Strengthen employability through practical skills development,
mentorship, career guidance, and linkages to employment opportunities.
6. Promote inclusive economic empowerment that enhances household
resilience, dignity, and social cohesion between refugees and host communities.
Key Activities

Target Groups
1. Provide vocational and technical skills training based on local
labor-market needs and viable livelihood opportunities.
2. Deliver entrepreneurship, business management, financial literacy,
and basic digital skills training for refugees and vulnerable host communities.
3. Support beneficiaries to develop viable business ideas, business plans,
and income-generating activities.
4. Provide mentorship, coaching, and business development support for
refugee-led and community-based micro and small enterprises.
5. Facilitate linkages to employment, apprenticeships, markets,
financial services, and relevant private-sector opportunities.
6. Support women and youth with targeted livelihood and
entrepreneurship initiatives that strengthen economic participation and
self-reliance.
7. Promote savings, financial inclusion, and community-based economic
empowerment mechanisms.
8. Strengthen partnerships with vocational training institutions,
businesses, government authorities, humanitarian actors, and development
partners.
Expected Results
1. Improved access to vocational, technical, entrepreneurial, and
employability skills for refugees and vulnerable host communities.
2. Increased employment, self-employment, and sustainable
income-generating opportunities among targeted beneficiaries.
3. Strengthened capacity of refugee entrepreneurs and micro and small
enterprises to establish, manage, and grow sustainable businesses.
4. Improved financial literacy, savings practices, financial
inclusion, and responsible household financial management.
5. Increased economic participation and empowerment of women, youth,
persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
6. Enhanced linkages between beneficiaries and employers, markets,
vocational institutions, financial service providers, and private-sector
actors.
7. Improved household economic resilience, self-reliance, dignity, and
reduced dependency on humanitarian assistance.
8. Strengthened refugee-led and community-based livelihood mechanisms
that contribute to social cohesion and sustainable local development.
Geographic Focus
1. Kampala and the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area, with a focus on
refugee-hosting urban communities and vulnerable host populations.
2. Refugee settlements and host communities across Uganda based on
identified livelihood, vocational training, and economic empowerment needs.
3. Northern Uganda and other refugee-hosting areas where vulnerable
populations face limited access to employment, markets, skills development, and
sustainable livelihood opportunities.
4. The program may expand to additional locations based on community
needs, market assessments, available resources, partnerships, and operational
capacity.
