About the Project

1. The Refugee Education & Learning Support Project aims to improve access to inclusive, safe, and quality learning opportunities for refugee children and youth in Uganda. The project addresses educational barriers faced by displaced learners through learning support, skills development, educational materials, and community-based initiatives that promote continued participation in education.

2. It also seeks to strengthen the confidence, knowledge, and capabilities of refugee children and young people while engaging families, communities, and relevant partners in creating supportive learning environments and sustainable pathways toward a better future.

Project Objectives

The project aims to:

1. Improve access to inclusive, safe, and quality education for refugee children and youth.

2. Provide learning materials and educational support to vulnerable refugee learners.

3. Strengthen foundational, digital, and life skills that support continued learning and future opportunities.

3. Reduce barriers to education faced by displaced children and young people.

4. Promote community participation in education by engaging parents, caregivers, volunteers, and community leaders.

5. Strengthen partnerships with schools, education actors, and humanitarian organizations to improve sustainable learning opportunities for refugees.

Key Activities

Key activities include:

1. Learning support and remedial education for refugee children and youth who have experienced disruption to their education.

2. Distribution of essential learning materials, including notebooks, stationery, and other educational supplies.

3. Digital literacy and basic skills training to strengthen access to modern learning opportunities.

4. Life skills and personal development sessions that build confidence, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

5. Community education and awareness sessions for parents, caregivers, and community leaders on supporting children has continued education.

6. Referral and linkage of vulnerable learners to appropriate schools, education services, and specialized support.

7. Training and capacity building for community volunteers and facilitators involved in refugee education activities.

8. Coordination with schools, humanitarian actors, and education partners to strengthen sustainable educational opportunities for refugee learners.
